Why Are Winter Tires Important?

Winter tires are specially designed to provide better road grip and braking performance at low temperatures.

The rubber compound of winter tires is harder and more flexible, which allows these tires to provide better traction in cold weather conditions. Additionally, the surface of winter tires has more sipes and allows for better penetration into snow, enabling these tires to perform better against skidding.

The use of winter tires significantly increases safety and performance during car driving. Especially on icy and snowy roads, not using winter tires can pose a serious danger. Therefore, it is recommended to use winter tires, particularly in areas where snowy and icy conditions are frequent."

When is the Best Time to Change Summer or All-Season Tires for Winter (Snow) Tires ?

The installation of winter tires is recommended when the temperature drops below 7°C.

The timing for mounting winter tires may vary depending on the weather conditions in your region.

Generally, it is recommended to mount winter tires when the temperature drops below 7°C. This temperature represents the threshold at which the rubber compound necessary for better traction of tires begins to harden. However, if your region experiences frequent snowfall or icy roads, mounting winter tires earlier may be preferable. Mounting winter tires is important to enhance the safety and performance of your vehicle. Therefore, timely mounting of winter tires is recommended.

What Are the Factors Affecting Tire Lifespan ?

The wear and lifespan of tires depend on various factors.

For example, the following factors can be considered:

Driving style: Your driving style, which varies depending on the road conditions you encounter, can influence the rate of tire wear. For instance, an aggressive driving style (such as rapid sharp turns, heavy braking) can lead to faster tire wear.

Road conditions: Road conditions can affect the rate of tire wear. For example, extreme hot or cold weather conditions can accelerate tire wear.

Pressure: Maintaining the correct tire pressure can affect the rate of tire wear. Improperly inflated tires can wear out more quickly and negatively impact vehicle performance.

Wheel condition: The condition of the wheels can affect the rate of tire wear. For example, deformed wheels can cause tires to wear out faster.

Load: The load on your vehicle can affect the rate of tire wear. Vehicles carrying heavier loads may experience faster tire wear.

What is Balancing? - The Importance of Balancing Industrial Rotors

The Importance of Balancing Industrial Rotors

Industrial rotors are essential components used in various industrial machines. They carry rotating parts in machines such as pumps, spindle motors, fans, armatures, centrifugal pump motor shafts, cylinders, pulleys, compressor rotors, agricultural machine rotors, drums, helices, bells, separators, turbines, electric motors, and similar equipment, fulfilling their functions. However, improper balancing or imbalance of rotors can lead to serious problems. Therefore, the importance of balancing industrial rotors is significant.

What Is Balancing?

Balancing refers to minimizing vibrations when a rotor rotates. If a rotor is unbalanced, vibrations occur during rotation. These vibrations can be harmful to both the rotor itself and the machine or system to which the rotor is mounted. Balancing redistributes the weight distribution and rotary forces of the rotor, thus helping to prevent unwanted vibrations.

The Importance of Balancing

• Longer Lifespan: A balanced rotor results in less wear and tear, extending the lifespan of both the rotor and other connected parts. Vibrations caused by imbalance can lead to cracks, deformations, and even breakage of components.

• Higher Performance: A balanced rotor rotates more smoothly, leading to more efficient machine operation. Reduced vibration results in less energy loss and friction for the machine, translating to cost savings and higher productivity.

• Safety: Unbalanced rotors can pose hazards. High levels of vibration can damage the machine or cause accidents during operation. The vibrations caused by an unbalanced rotor can also pose health and safety risks to workers.

• Quality Control: Quality control is essential in industrial production. Unbalanced rotors can adversely affect product quality. For example, vibrations caused by an unbalanced rotor can lead to defects in manufactured products.

• Customer Satisfaction: Quality products and reliable machines increase customer satisfaction. Balanced rotors lead to fewer breakdowns and longer periods of trouble-free operation for machines, enhancing customer satisfaction and maintaining the company's reputation.

Balancing Process

Given the importance of balancing industrial rotors, the balancing process must be carried out correctly. This process typically involves the following steps:

• Evaluation of the Rotor: The condition of the rotor is assessed, and the need for balancing is determined.

• Testing with a Balancing Machine: The rotor is tested on special balancing machines, and the degree of imbalance is determined.

• Adding or Removing Weight: The balance of the rotor is adjusted, usually by adding or removing weight.

• Re-Testing: The rotor is re-tested after the balancing process, and vibration levels are checked.

• Approval and Certification: The rotor is certified to meet the specified standards, and necessary certification processes are completed.

The importance of balancing industrial rotors is significant for machine performance, safety, and product quality. Balanced rotors provide longer-lasting and more reliable machines. Therefore, it is essential for industrial facilities to regularly balance and maintain rotors, reducing operating costs and increasing efficiency.

Why Do Wheels Become Misaligned ?

Why Do Wheels Become Misaligned ?

A car with no accidents and new tires is less likely to have its wheel alignment disrupted easily. However, incidents such as hitting curbs or other objects, damage to the chassis, or problems with the steering system can lead to disruptions in wheel alignment. Common scenarios that can disrupt wheel alignment include:

  • Continuing to turn the steering wheel after scraping against a curb while parking.
  • Malfunctions in the steering system.
  • Corrective repairs made to the vehicle's chassis due to accidents.
  • Damage to the wheel arms after encountering potholes or rough road conditions.

Failure to perform wheel alignment can result in premature wear of suspension components and rapid wear on one side of the tires. Additionally, it significantly decreases driving comfort.

What is Tire Balance Adjustment and Why Does It Get Disturbed?

What is Tire Balance Adjustment and Why Does It Get Disturbed?

Teknik Balans Makina A.S recommends that you have your tires balanced at least once a year or every 15,000 kilometers. The purpose of balancing is to ensure that the tires remain balanced, thereby providing driving safety and comfort. During the balancing process, the weight on both sides of the tire is equalized, and the tires remain balanced during driving.

This helps prevent vibrations, prevents uneven tire wear, and ensures good grip and driving comfort.

If you experience vibrations in the steering wheel or driver's seat, or if you notice uneven tire wear, it means that your tire balance is disturbed.

Due to factors such as the distance traveled by the tires and the challenging road conditions, as well as impacts and hitting curbs, imbalances in balance and posture may occur over time. How often and how intensively you use your vehicle is also a determining factor in the disruption of balance.

Tires are the only point of contact between your vehicle and the road. Checking the balance of your tires is crucial for driving safety. With tire balance adjustment, the weight of the wheel is evenly distributed around the rotation axis, eliminating vibrations and providing a more comfortable and safe ride. In addition to preventing uneven tire wear, early wear of suspension, steering components, and vehicle bearings is also prevented.
